Barcelona is ready to let Griezmann go to extend Messi’s contract

DBasia.news – Barcelona has not given up on trying to extend Lionel Messi’s contract. Most recently, the Blaugrana are ready to sacrifice Antoine Griezmann to make this happen.

Messi has reportedly agreed to sign a new contract with Barcelona. La Pulga had no objection in accepting a smaller fee than before.

But the problem did not stop there. Barcelona is now unable to register new players because the maximum salary burden has exceeded the limit set by LaLiga.

The problem is contained in a regulation limiting club salaries made at the end of 2020. Barcelona has now exceeded the maximum limit of the set salary value.

The arrivals of Sergio Aguero, Eric Garcia and Memphis Depay have reportedly made Barcelona’s salary burden increase by 40% from the limit set by LaLiga. Even though that amount has been deducted from the value of Messi’s salary whose contract has expired.

Barcelona tried to find a solution by releasing a number of players to other clubs. However, this measure has not been effective.

According to Sport reports, Barcelona will now have to forgo 200 million euros to register their three new players and Messi. The cut will allow them to meet the salary limit set by LaLiga.

The easiest way to achieve this is Barcelona has to sell high-paid players. One of them is Griezmann.

The French striker is now the owner of the highest salary at Barcelona. By selling Griezmann, El Barca can save around 125 million euros in salary expenses.

This amount has not been added to the profits obtained from Griezmann’s transfer fee. It can be concluded that sacrificing the former Atletico Madrid bomber is the best solution to solve this problem.

Barcelona will certainly consider the option of selling Griezmann carefully. Moreover, the player has not shown his best quality since being brought in for a transfer value of 120 million euros two years ago.
