Barcelona Let Dembele Go
By db-admin
DBasia.news – FC Barcelona has taken a firm stance on Ousmane Dembele. The 24-year-old French forward’s contract expires at the end of this season and has no intention of signing a new contract.
Although through Barca coach Xavi, Dembele said he wanted to stay at Barcelona, the fact was that Dembele and his agent, Moussa Sissoko, had refused to offer a new Barca contract. Now Barca are firm on him.
Barcelona kicked Dembele out of the main squad and was allowed to leave in the winter transfer market (January). That was said by Mateu Alemany as Director of Sport of Barcelona.
“There have been negotiations with Ousmane and his agent since July more or less. During that time, six or seven months, there have been dialogues, conversations, Barca have made different offers, looking for ways to keep him with us,” explained Alemany as quoted by Sport-English.
“This offer has been rejected by his agent. And now, today January 20, with 11 days remaining in the window for him to renew his contract, it is clear that the player does not want to stay at Barca and is not committed to the club.”
“Therefore, with this scenario, we have told him and his agent that they have to leave immediately and look for a transfer before January 31 because we want players who are committed to this project.”
“Not being in the squad now is a consequence of all that. We don’t want players who don’t want to be here. Obviously the coach has to have the final say, but he has the full support of the club.”
Dembele was bought from Borussia Dortmund in 2017 for 105 million euros plus bonuses. Colored with recurring injuries, Dembele is rarely able to appear full during the season. However, he is talented and is still in demand by European clubs.
