DBasia.news – Josep Maria Bartomeu, President of Barcelona, commented on the team’s heavy defeat at Anfield, Liverpool’s headquarters, in the Champions League semi-final second leg. Bartomeu remembered last season against AS Roma.
Barcelona returned to fasting the Champions League title after losing 4-0 to Liverpool in the semi-final second leg match, at Anfield Stadium, Wednesday (8/5) WIB. The four Reds goals were created by Divock Origi (2) and Georginio Wijnaldum (2).
Indeed, Barcelona has more than 50 percent chance to advance to the final. This was inseparable from the 3-0 victory achieved at the first meeting. Now, Lionel Messi and his mates need to rise up as they will still compete in the Copa del Rey final.
“We are now very infuriated because we were eliminated. Now, we have to be uplifted as there is a Copa del Rey final to do,” Bartomeu said as Movistar reported.
“This will be a difficult day for everyone. However, we must rise,” continued the president.
The defeat against Liverpool continued to scrape old wounds when Barcelona also experienced a similar thing against AS Roma. At that time, Barcelona failed to take the 4-1 advantage in the first leg.
“There will be time to reflect and explain. There is still the Copa del Rey in the next three weeks.”
“Last year, in Rome, the same thing happened and it was difficult to explain. We will do it internally. Now it’s time to play in the Copa del Rey, arouse enthusiasm and apologize to all Barcelona supporters,” explained Bartomeu.
