Barcelona Record a Dark History of Financial Problems

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Barcelona president Joan Laporta claims his club is in the worst financial situation in history. Disclosed, currently Barcelona’s debt skyrocketed to 1.35 billion euros.

Laporta stressed that the current club board must make important decisions that will affect the future and blamed the previous regime for the team’s mismanagement.

“They are the worst financial holders in Barcelona’s history with a debt of 1.35 billion euros and a loss of 480 million euros this year,” Laporta said as reported by Marca.

“When it arrived, we couldn’t even pay the staff. This is what we found. The responsibility that arose will be studied when the investigation is complete.”

“The situation we have reached is the result of serious deficiencies in management by the previous director. Our legal department will decide whether it constitutes a crime and the legal action that may arise,” continued Laporta, who is serving his second term as president of the Blaugrana.

“The club is in a very complicated situation in terms of financial structure. We have to make decisions that will mark the entity’s future direction.”

Laporta later assured club members that the current board of directors was not willing to sell part of the team’s stake to any investment fund to raise money.

“We are working to get the club out of the good institutions in which we find ourselves,” Laporta added.

“We have carried out financial operations to get 551 million euros. We have renegotiated the first team sports contract to reduce the wage bill by 155 million euros but we still have to reduce more.”

Laporta also assured that despite difficult circumstances, Barcelona will not be taken over by any party and promised to help restore the club’s finances.

“Barcelona is in our hands and not in the hands of third parties or states or investment funds and that’s how it will be. As long as we are directors, the property will always be owned by the members. Those who think they can take over Barcelona are very wrong. We have draw a red line and if someone wants to cross it, they will find us.”
