Barcelona vs Manchester United match ended without a winner
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Barcelona had to settle for a draw when they met Manchester United in the first leg of the last 32 of the Europa League. Xavi’s team were only able to break the deadlock five minutes after the break through Marcos Alonso’s header, but unfortunately it didn’t last long after Marcus Rashford equalized the score in the 52nd minute.
Erik ten Hag’s United managed to turn things around in the 59th minute thanks to an own goal by Barca defender, Jules Kounde. But the hosts’ struggled to avoid defeat paid off in the 76th minute, after Raphinha’s shot slid into the United net.
Barcelona had to lose their young star, Pedri in the middle of the first half due to injury.
In this match, the two goalkeepers, both Marc-Andre ter Stegen and David de Gea, both performed brilliantly for Barca and United. Their slick performance made the game just as tight in the first half which ended goalless until halftime.
Marcus Rashford scored 22 goals for Manchester United in all competitions this season, equaling his best record in a single season (also 22 goals in 2019/20).
This draw means that both teams still have the same chance to qualify for the last 16 of the Europa League this season, with the second leg taking place on Friday (24/2).
