By db-admin
DBasia.news – Barcelona could be eliminated from the Champions League group stage by following Inter Milan’s 4-0 win over Viktoria Plzen. The Catalan team now have to participate in the play-off round to fight for a ticket to the last 16 of the Europa League.
Here, Xavi’s side will face other third-placed teams from the Champions League, as well as teams that have qualified for second in the group stages of the Europa League. They are not allowed to play against other Spanish teams due to UEFA regulations.
Barca plunged into the Europa League before their match against Bayern Munich was held.
The Blaugrana need Viktoria Plzen to beat second-placed, Inter, while Xavi’s team hope to take full points when they meet group leaders Bayern at Camp Nou.
The Italians won to go on to confirm Barca’s third place and sending them into the Europa League for the second year in a row.
