Barcelona’s negative side and Xavi’s poor record
By db-admin
DBasia.news – For Barcelona supporters, the past weeks have been a gloomy. Barcelona had difficulty in the Champions League and was able to drop into the Europa League, then also at the weekend lost to arch-rivals Real Madrid.
Barcelona lost 0-1 to Inter Milan at the Giuseppe Meazza, then were held to a 3-3 draw at Camp Nou. The result complicates the chances of qualifying for the top 16. Barcelona then lost 1-3 in the continuation of the LaLiga match against Madrid in El Clasico, which was played at the Santiago Bernabeu, Sunday (16/10) evening WIB.
Barcelona were only able to reply from Ferran Torres’ goal while Madrid’s three goals came from Karim Benzema, Federico Valverde, and Rodrygo Goes. Barcelona’s position is still fighting for the LaLiga title but no doubt, they are in a negative period.
Barcelona coach, Xavi Hernandez has been in the spotlight. The legend has already received demands for dismissal from fans on social media. Xavi also admitted that Barcelona are in a bad period at the moment.
“The feeling is that we are in a negative dynamic. We are trying. We have confidence, self-respect. We are trying. Fortunately, it is three points. It is an opportunity to stay at the top and we go empty-handed,” Xavi explained as reported by Marca.
“We had a chance against them and we didn’t take their moment and they defended really well. We had to change the dynamics nothing went our way.”
“I’m afraid we didn’t attack well. We didn’t take our moment. It wasn’t a great day. We are in a bad dynamic and we have to change that now. We have to be more mature and compete much better.”
Xavi’s poor record
After already down from Xavi’s defeat, according to Marca, it became Barcelona’s worst coach in a matter of 50 games, when compared to his predecessors in recent seasons.
In 50 games leading Barcelona Xavi has a record of 28 wins, 11 draws and 11 defeats. The 50 games are 37 games last season and 13 this season.
The record was originally the same as Frank Rijkaard, he was better with a record of one more draw and one defeat less than Xavi. Then Luis Enrique with a record of 42 wins, three draws and five clean sheets.
While other names such as Pep Guardiola and Tata Martino have a record of 37 wins, eight draws and five defeats. Then Tito Vilanova with 36 wins, eight draws and six defeats.
Ernesto Valverde, who now manages Athletic Bilbao, has 28 wins like Xavi but drew 19 and lost just three and Ronald Koeman, won 33 of the first 50, lost 10 and drawn seven.
However, among these coaches only Xavi coached Barcelona without the presence of Argentine superstar Lionel Messi, who is now defending PSG.
