Being Group Champion is not Everything
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Real Madrid will meet Glasgow Celtic in the last match of Group F of the 2022-2023 Champions League. It is predicted that Los Blancos will not appear adamant even though the status of group winners is at stake.
The duel of the two teams will take place at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, Thursday (3/11) at 00.45 WIB. Madrid need a win to lock their status as group winners.
Madrid’s position as the leader of group f is unsafe. His 10-point achievement is only one point away from RB Leipzig in second place.
But an interesting view was conveyed by Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti. He assesses the status of group winners is not everything.
“This match is vital because we want to win the group. But it (the group winners) doesn’t really matter because many competitive teams advance to the last 16 by finishing second,” Ancelotti said at a press conference ahead of the match.
This is an indication that Madrid will not appear at full strength in the match later. A number of star players from the Spanish capital club are unfit.
But Ancelotti ensured Madrid will continue to appear serious cons Celtic. Victory remains the target for the sake of maintaining the good name of his team.
“The most important thing is the prestige of Real Madrid, and that we must not forget. This is a special competition for our club and we must give it the respect it deserves,” he added.
“It’s not just the three points. We have to produce the image the club has always shown.”
