Belarusian League, the most relaxed competition amid the Corona Virus Pandemic

As reported previously, in contrast to other competitions in Europe that have temporarily been suspended, the Belarussian Premiership continues. Now the league that is somewhat far from glamor has become one of the competitions that is interested in football enthusiasts. As reported by Reuters, with the growing flood of interest to watch, the Belarusian league is now also being offered by television stations who want to obtain broadcast rights.

Yes, the decision to continue the competition and allow spectators to come to the stadium in the midst of a pandemic that has hit the world has helped the Belarusian Football Federation (BFF), especially in broadcasting rights. Reuters reports that currently 10 countries have taken Belarusian league broadcasting rights, including those from Russia, Ukraine, Israel and India.

“Such a situation has never happened,” said Alexander Aleinik, a spokesman for the federation.

One television station that is taking Belarusian league broadcasting rights is Sport-1 from Ukraine. “We did not think they had a good competition. We did not know as previously there had never been a match there,” said Viktor Samoilenko, producer of Sport-1.

Although the Belarusian league is still in the midst of a pandemic, it does not mean that BFF has no preparation to prevent the corona virus. Rather than delaying the competition, they prefer to regulate the behavior of supporters in the stadium.

Some examples of these rules have forbid supporters who are suffering from fever or respiratory problems and aged over 65 years to come to the stadium. While teenagers under 16 years who come must be accompanied by their parents.

Special rules also apply in the stands. Supporters must maintain a distance of about 1.5 meters between each other so that many chairs are forced to be emptied.
