Benzema’s Story in the Ramadan Month

By db-admin

DBasia.news – The month of Ramadan has arrived and the Muslims of the world are living it for a whole month. Muslim professional footballers in Europe are no exception, even though they have the option of not fasting and replacing it with fidyah, some players still carry it out.

One of them is Real Madrid striker, Karim Benzema. The 34-year-old striker has had one of his best seasons with Los Blancos, a club he has played for since 2009.

Benzema has scored 34 goals and provided 13 assists in 35 matches in all competitions. The French striker of Algerian descent is an important player for Madrid’s front line, both in the transitional phase of play or offensively.

Madrid is still struggling to win titles in LaLiga and the Champions League, in the midst of that busy schedule, Benzema chose to continue fasting even though fasting is considered to make players not fit because they do not eat and drink until they break their fast.

Benzema doesn’t see it that way. According to him when talking to Esquire, Ramadan is a part of his life and Benzema feels better when fasting.

“There is no effect. Ramadan is a part of my life and my religion makes Ramadan an obligation. For me, it’s very important and I feel good when I fast.”

At the age of 34, Benzema is still in good shape and has not thought about retiring, as long as he remains motivated to play football.

“Football is my passion. So as long as I love football, and it remains my passion, I will be motivated by it. The day football is no longer my passion, I will stop,” added the player, whose contract expires at Madrid at the end of the 2022-2023 season.
