DBasia.news – The Mayor of Bergamo, Giorgio Gori, revealed the beginning of the corona virus spread that is increasingly pandemic in Italy. According to him the initial spread occurred in the Champions League match between Atalanta against Valencia.
Atalanta hosted Valencia at the San Siro in the first leg of the Champions League last 16 at the San Siro on February 20, 2020. Atalanta won 4-1 over Valencia in that match and at least 50,000 more fans were present in the stadium.
Gori also theorized that the game was the beginning of the corona virus spread which had claimed 7,503 lives and 74,386 cases as of Thursday (3/26) local time. No half-hearted, he called the spread that occurred in the game like a biological bomb.
“The match was a biological bomb. At that time we did not know what happen. The first patient in Italy was on February 23. If the virus had circulated, forty thousand fans who went to the San Siro were infected,” explained Gori as reported by Marca.
“Nobody knows that the virus has circulated among us. Many watched the game in groups and there were many contacts (between fans) happened that night. The virus moved from one person to another,” he added.
Spanish journalists were also tested positive of the corona virus after covering the match in Italy. Not only argues that the fight was the beginning of the spread of corona, Gori also revealed other factors.
“The match did not cause everything because the spark really was at the Alzano Lombardo hospital, as a patient with patients, doctors and nurses infected with unknown pneumonia. That was the focal point of the outbreak,” Gori added.
Although it is unclear where the transmission occurred, but three Valencia players: Jose Gaya, Eliaquim Mangala, and Ezequiel Garay positive corona. While one player from Atalanta is Marco Sportiello, the team goalkeeper.
