Bernd Leno will leave Arsenal?
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Since Arsenal signed Aaron Ramsdale in the summer of 2021 from Sheffield United, Bernd Leno has lost his status as the Gunners’ main goalkeeper. The lack of playing time makes him likely to leave.
Throughout the 2021-2022 season, the German goalkeeper has only made four appearances in the Premier League, plus four matches in the FA Cup and League Cup. That amount of appearances is not ideal for the goalkeeper who is irreplaceable in his playing position at Bayer Leverkusen.
Moreover, Leno (30 years old) also wants to maintain hope to be called up to the German national team for the 2022 World Cup, superimposing Manuel Neuer and Marc-Andre ter Stegen. No doubt moving from Arsenal for hours of playing is an option for Leno.
Incidentally, according to David Ornstein’s report in The Athletic, Premier League promotion club Fulham are interested in Leno. Fulham are exploring the possibility of signing Leno despite the fact that the London club have two goalkeepers: Marek Rodak and Paulo Gazzaniga.
Marco Silva’s team needs experienced players and Leno is an option, plus Leno has the quality to build attacks from the back line. Moreover, Leno does not need to move to another city if he joins Fulham as he is still in London.
Fulham are still looking for new ammunition after releasing Fabio Carvalho to Liverpool and Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa to Napoli. Leno, who has nine caps with the German national team, could be Fulham’s first signing.
Arsenal signed Bernd Leno from Leverkusen in 2018 for £22.5 million. Prior to Ramsdale’s arrival, Leno was the first goalkeeper to replace Petr Cech.
