DBasia.news – The British media are already well known for their excessive portion of the news concerning talented local talents. This fact is very unfortunate, as the talents there are actually not far from other talented youth producing countries such as Brazil, Argentina and France.
The term often gives an overrated judgment to a talented young player, who had yet to achieve success or the peak of his game, but the British media seemed to describe him as a star player.
This condition is currently occuring to 18-year-old British young talent, Callum Hudson-Odoi at Chelsea. The English media seemed to have made him a star at the level of Eden Hazard and raised opinions to the public, so Hudson-Odoi continued to play in every Chelsea match.
In fact, at that age, it would be better for him to develop slowly without pressure in order to be able to reap results later on.
Indirectly, the media has put pressure on Chelsea, making the player to be big head because of the praise, plus heating the rumors of his transfer to Bayern Munich.
As known, Bayern Munchen really wants to purchase him as a replacement for Arjen Robben and had given an offer of 35 million pounds.
Hudson-Odoi has only become a starter three times in the Europa League and has never been a starter in the Premier League. Maurizio Sarri, Chelsea manager, one of the football figures who has been quite critical of the British media.
“Callum is always in my mind in every match. I don’t know whether he will play or not tomorrow (against Dynamo Kyiv). I think you also have to reduce pressure on young English players, because they need time to develop,” Sarri said, as quoted from London Football.
“I have never seen a player at the age of 18 being at the top (of the game), so Callum, like other young English players, must develop in this moment. That is very important for him at this time.”
“Then, he will be at the top when he is 22 or 23 without pressure at this time. I think you (the media) put too much pressure on young English players,” concluded Sarri.
The increase in Jadon Sancho’s performance at Borussia Dortmund may be an example, how a talented young man can develop without pressure and be able to maximize his talent. Now, Sancho worth can reach 100 million pounds.
