Callum Hudson-Odoi Stepped on the Road to Become the Successor to Eden Hazard at Chelsea

By db-admin

DBasia.news –  Callum Hudson-Odoi is expected to become the successor of Eden Hazard after signing a new contract with Chelsea until 2024.

As is known, Hudson-Odoi became the subject of special conversation last season, when Chelsea was handled by Maurizio Sarri, because of his great talent. Moreover, the contract expires next year.

Bayern Munich openly interested in him and dared to express their desire to recruit Hudson-Odoi in January. They see the player born in Wandsworth, November 7, 2000, as the successor of Arjen Robben who incidentally is also a former Chelsea player.

Hudson-Odoi, 18, even reportedly had the chance to request a transfer request from the Director of Chelsea, Marina Granovskaia, because he was not sure of the prospect of playing under Sarri’s care. Hudson-Odoi used his time to assess the situation at Stamford Bridge.

Different from when Antonio Conte handled it before, Hudson-Odoi was rarely played by Sarri last season, even though his performance was good and he was in top form and was called by Gareth Southgate to strengthen the England national team.

The change of manager to Frank Lampard opened the hopes of Hudson-Odoi surviving. Lampard, although there is a transfer embargo factor from FIFA for two periods, maximizes the potential of young academy product players such as Mason Mount, Fikayo Tomori, and Tammy Abraham.

All three developed under the direction of Lampard, so Hudson-Odoi could be like the three when he has recovered from injury later. Chelsea need not go far in search of successor Eden Hazard, who moved to Real Madrid, because they have ‘young diamonds’ that need to be sharpened to become a world-class player.

Together with Christian Pulisic, Hudson-Odoi will compete to become a successor to Hazard. Former Chelsea defender David Luiz has seen the potential of Hudson-Odoi to become the successor to Hazard.

“Callum Hudson-Odoi is our academy dropout and talented boy who has the chance to become a legend,” said David Luiz, some time ago at the Guardian.

“He knew this club since he was young and has the talent to be like Eden Hazard in the future,” he continued.

A salary of 180,000 pounds per week or equivalent to Rp 3 billion, Hudson-Odoi is expected to answer expectations to become a successor to Hazard at Chelsea.

Making his debut in January 2018 with Chelsea in an FA Cup match against Newcastle United, Hudson-Odoi appeared three times as a substitute for the season and appeared in a Premier League home match against Bournemouth.

Hudson-Odoi was called up for England for the 2020 European Cup Qualifiers against the Czech Republic and Montenegro in March 2019. His performance against the Czech Republic made him England’s youngest player in a competitive match at the age of 18 years 135 days, beating Duncan Edwards’ record in 1955.
