Chelsea are again allowed to sell match tickets, with conditions

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Chelsea received good news in the midst of the fall of sanctions from the British government. The Blues have been allowed to re-sell match tickets.

As is known, the British government banned all commercial activities of Chelsea for an indefinite period of time. This is the aftermath of freezing the assets of the club owner, Roman Abramovich.

The British government did record all the assets of Russian billionaires in Britain. They are accused of having a direct relationship with Vladimir Putin as the person responsible of his country’s invasion of Ukraine.

This punishment prevents Chelsea from selling match tickets and merchandise, as well as player transfers. The sanctions have been running for the last two weeks.

This condition makes it difficult for Chelsea to run the club’s operations as before. The team from London had to think hard on how to cut expenses in order to still be able to compete.

No doubt this condition makes Chelsea on the verge of collapse. Some parties even doubt they can last until the end of the season if the sanctions are not immediately lifted.

Seeing these conditions, the British government finally softened. Through a special operating permit, Chelsea are now allowed to resell match tickets, although with a number of conditions.

The new rules allow Chelsea to sell tickets at maximum capacity for all home and away matches in the Champions League, FA Cup and Women’s Super League. While for the Premier League the number is still limited.

“I would like to thank the fans for their patience as we work closely with the football authorities to make this happen,” said England’s Minister for Sport, Nigel Huddleston.

“Since Roman Abramovich was added to the UK sanctions list because of his relationship with (Russian president) Vladimir Putin, we have worked extensively to ensure clubs can continue to play football while ensuring sanctions continue to be enforced.”

Permission from the British government is not unconditional. All profits from Chelsea ticket sales will go to the competition operator.

It is still unknown whether Chelsea will be able to enjoy the proceeds of ticket sales. What is certain is that Thomas Tuchel’s team will certainly have full support when they host Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals, April 6.
