DBasia.news – On matchday 5 of Group H Champions League 2019-2020, Chelsea had just visited Valencia’s headquarters on Thursday (11/28) early morning Western Indonesian Time. In that match, the Chelsea captain showed his disappointment after being held to a draw by the host with a score of 2-2.
Indeed, Chelsea had a 1-2 lead thanks to goals from Mateo Kovacic and Christian Pulisic. However, Daniel Wass’s goal eight minutes before the long whistle destroyed the Blues victory.
Cesar Azpilicueta was disappointed because Chelsea could not maintain excellence. According to him, the game of the Blues slacked after winning.
“We are able to adapt and play flexibly on various occasions because every match is different. So, we have to adjust several things, and that’s normal,” Azpilicueta said as reported by BT Sport.
“We conceded two goals. Valencia do have good quality, but our target is always to improve to be near perfect. We have to work hard for it.”
“They get several opportunities, even with us. Our goal is to win to get closer to qualifying for the next round. However, I don’t think we made it well.”
“We reacted well when they scored the first goal. However, when winning 2-1, we should have continued to endanger them. Valencia is a good team and kept pressing us until the end of the game because they also want to qualify,” Azpilicueta said.
Azpilicueta rate, the match against Valencia went interesting. The duel was peppered with a penalty, VAR, and a strong desire from each team to win three points.
Now, the fate of Chelsea will be determined in the final match against Lille. Victory will make Frank Lampard’s troops make sure they advance to the knockout stages without having to pay attention to the results of other matches.
“As I said before, we prefer three points in this match. We still have the opportunity to qualify when entertaining Lille at home,” the captain said.
