Chelsea has infuriated the football public after firing Frank Lampard. In an official statement, the Blues said the results achieved recently had caused Lampard to lose his job.
Chelsea’s decision has received pros and cons in response. From the counterparts, there is Michael Owen who opened up on the matter.
Owen considered, Lampard was an accomplished coach. He could not stop thinking about the choice made by the Blues.
“Chelsea’s decision to fire Frank Lampard was a shock. Lampard did an extraordinary job finishing fourth last season,” Owen wrote on Twitter.
“He also managed to get this team through to the knockout phase of the Champions League 2020-2021. Lampard purchased some good players and still needs time to adjust. Chelsea are really crazy to have fired Lampard.”
Based on the growing news, Lampard will only receive severance pay of around IDR 38 billion. This amount is relatively low when compared to what former Chelsea coach, Antonio Conte received (IDR172 billion).
Furthermore, this amount is also influenced by the duration of the coach’s remaining contract. It is reported that Lampard did not sign a four-year contract when he coached Chelsea but a three-year plus one-year option.
