Chelsea still makes Antonio Rudiger a priority
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Chelsea’s opportunity to keep Antonio Rudiger has continued to be available. The German defender, in fact, still makes the Blues a priority.
Rudiger has become one of Chelsea’s mainstay centre-backs since Thomas Tuchel was manager. Even though his fate was adrift which resulted in him being loaned.
The improved performance shown by Rudiger has made Chelsea intend to extend his contract. The ties of cooperation between the two parties will end in the summer of next year.
However, Chelsea’s plan to extend Rudiger’s contract did not go smoothly. The former AS Roma player did not just accept the offer.
Chelsea are increasingly in a difficult position after a series of big European clubs are ready to hijack Rudiger for free. This makes Rudiger have a stronger bargaining position.
Real Madrid is one of the clubs most eager to sign Rudiger. Los Blancos plan to partner with David Alaba in the heart of the defense.
Even so, Rudiger still wants to stay at Chelsea. But he hopes for a significant salary increase.
This was confirmed directly by transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano. Rudiger is actually thrilled with his life at Chelsea, especially in the last year.
“Real Madrid are pushing to sign Antonio Rüdiger on a free transfer. But nothing has been agreed as Rudiger is still discussing with Chelsea,” Fabrizio Romano tweeted.
“He (Rudiger) loves the club and Thomas Tuchel but Chelsea’s initial contract proposal has not been accepted.”
In the proposal offered by Chelsea, Rudiger will receive a fee of 140,000 pounds per week. That amount is up 40 thousand pounds from what he currently receives.
But Rudiger seems to think that the amount is too low. Moreover, he is now a main defender.
Chelsea’s seriousness to restrain the departure of Rudiger was tested. The London club had to increase their offer to convince the Sierra Leone player.
