Chelsea will Forget the Premier League title if they Lose to Chelsea

Both need a win but Arsenal are aiming for the Premier League title, while Chelsea are targeting the top four. Arsenal are currently in second place with 31 points from 12 matches, while Chelsea are in seventh place with 21 points from 12 matches.

Arsenal are one point adrift of leaders, Manchester City, who have played 13 times. Mathematically, Chelsea can still win the Premier League title, though it would be a challenge to realize it this season.

The Blues players are adapting to the new coach, Graham Potter’s playing style. Football pundit, Paul Merson, also thinks Chelsea should say goodbye to the Premier League title if they lose the match later.

“This is a big game for both teams, for different reasons,” said Paul Merson as quoted by Football London.

“If Arsenal win they will be 13 points ahead of Chelsea. Let’s be realistic now, Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea are not talking about winning the Premier League title. The title race is over for them, and they are looking to finish in the top four.”

“If Arsenal win this game they have to lose five football games for Chelsea to catch them, and that is if Chelsea don’t lose. It’s a big game for Arsenal, and they have to avoid losing.”

Uniquely, Merson predicts the match will end in a 1-1 draw which is enough for the Gunners as long as they don’t lose.

“Arsenal are in good momentum in the Premier League at the moment and they don’t need a World Cup rest. They are on fire and did a fantastic job against (Nottingham) Forest. I think it will end in a 1-1 draw, and that would be a good result for Arsenal,” stated Merson.
