Chelsea won’t stop targeting Frenkie de Jong
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Chelsea failed to bring in Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona during the transfer market this summer. However, Chelsea refuse to stop targeting the Dutch player.
As is known, Frenkie de Jong’s transfer saga did end anticlimacticaly this summer. After being on the selling list and attracted by a number of clubs, the 25-year-old player finally stayed at Barcelona.
The complexity of the transfer process is believed to be the main cause of De Jong’s cancellation of leaving Barcelona. El Barca was asked to pay off his salary arrears which reached 17 million euros if he wanted to sell him.
Manchester United, who had shown interest from an early age, finally had to surrender. Chelsea, which then enlivened the hunt for De Jong, in the end also experienced the same thing.
In the end, Chelsea borrowed Denis Zakaria to solve midfield problems. But the London club still hasn’t forgotten about De Jong.
According to Football London reports, Chelsea will try to hijack De Jong again from Barcelona in the winter transfer market, January next year. If it still fails, they will try again at the end of the season.
De Jong has indeed become Thomas Tuchel’s dream midfielder to strengthen Chelsea’s midfield. Large funds have certainly been prepared to realize this transfer.
Chelsea’s opportunity to sign De Jong is quite open. This could not be separated from the emergence of rumors related to the deteriorating relationship between the player and Xavi Hernandez as Barcelona coach.
Although the transfer market has closed, De Jong in fact still has not returned to the starter list. He only appeared as a substitute when Barcelona destroyed Sevilla with a score of 3-0.
This could be an indication that the presence of De Jong is not too important for Barcelona anymore. Selling it would be the best option to cut payroll expenses.
