Chelsea’s Pre-season Focus, Malang Sarr Withdraws from the French Squad at the Olympics

DBasia.news – Malang Sarr has withdrawn from France’s Olympic squad to focus on Chelsea, in the hope he can impress Blues boss Thomas Tuchel during pre-season.

According to Get French Football News, Malang Sarr is one of a number of players returning from loan spells that will be assessed by Tuchel. The 47-year-old manager is known to be looking for additional players to include in his squad next season.

The 22-year-old defender moved from Nice to Chelsea last summer, and spent the 2020-21 season on loan at Porto.

Under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2025, Sarr impressed for Porto last season and with several of the west London club’s stars participating in the European Cup, he could be in Tuchel’s plans if he manages to make a good impression during pre-season.

It is rumored that the Chelsea board are willing to let Tuchel pick a few players before they make a transfer decision.

Tuchel himself is scheduled to arrive at Cobham on Monday (5/7), along with a number of players who returned from loan.

Those who appeared in the Champions League final will return next weekend, while players who participated in or are still involved in the ongoing European Cup will follow.

The Blues have previously confirmed their participation in the Mind Series, where they will face London rivals Tottenham and Arsenal in early August before flying to Dublin and Ireland for pre-season training.
