Chelsea’s Training is Considered too Monotonous
By db-admin
Chelsea midfielder, Mateo Kovacic, compares Frank Lampard with his predecessor, Maurizio Sarri. According to Kovacic, Sarri’s training method is tedious.
The Krotian footballer arrived at Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2018 on loan from Real Madrid. Together with Sarri, Kovacic made 51 appearances and helped Chelsea finish third in the Premier League and win the Europa League.
Kovacic’s collaboration with Sarri only lasted one season as the coach then accepted the proposal to join Juventus. The Chelsea manager’s seat left by Sarri was then filled by the club’s legendary player, Lampard.
In the Lampard era, Kovacic successfully defended his place in the Blues’ first team. The 25-year-old player has played 32 times including starting in 15 of his 22 league appearances.
Chelsea are still in the top four, although being less consistent. While praising Lampard’s performance, Kovacic revealed the difference between his manager and Sarri.
“I joined Chelsea under Sarri, but I must say that Lampard is an extraordinary manager,” he told FourFourTwo. “He maintained his character while still being a player in his personality as a coach, which inspired us all.”
“He ties himself to everything he has. His training is always challenging and different from last season,” continued the former Inter Milan player.
“That is perhaps the main difference between Lampard and Sarri, which makes his training concept quite monotonous. There are many similar training sessions with a focus on preparing tactics.”
