Christophe Galtier defends Kylian Mbappe from criticism towards his tactics

DBasia.news – Christophe Galtier has defended Kylian Mbappe after the striker appeared to criticize the Paris Saint-Germain boss’ tactics this season.
Mbappe appeared to denounce the tactics used by Galtier on social media after PSG stumbled into a stalemate against Reims at the weekend. It is believed that the French forward was given assurances that he will be playing in a two-man attack with a man at the back, rather than PSG’s usual front three.
Speaking to reporters, Galtier said: “It was a reaction in the heat of the moment, after a moment of disappointment. I spoke to Kylian a lot at the start of the season and I was attentive to his comments when he played for France, saying that he felt better creating the Les Bleus attack.”
“During pre-season we spoke with Luis Campos and the president [Nasser Al-Khelaifi] to get a fourth striker, with a different profile, who would allow the two strikers and Kylian to play as much as possible in his preferred areas. Kylian sometimes finds himself in the middle and he gets the impression that he is a pivot. However, he is a smart player who can adapt.”
“Kylian has already scored 11 goals and I know he will score more. To tell the whole story, he shouldn’t have played against Reims, he was ill. Kylian played when he was unwell and tired, in a game that didn’t go well for us. I tried convinced him by finding different options. We are concerned about his comments and thoughts because he is an important player for the team.”
The match against Reims was the first time the Parisians have failed to score this season. Elsewhere, Mbappe and his team-mates, Lionel Messi and Neymar, are already in excellent form, contributing more than 40 goals across all competitions.
