Claudio Ranieri upports Inter Milan over Liverpool
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Claudio Ranieri has an interesting view regarding the meeting between Inter Milan and Liverpool in the 16th round of the 2021-2022 Champions League. The Nerazzurri are considered to have a chance to qualify for the next phase.
Liverpool are certainly more favored to advance to the quarter-finals than Inter. In addition to the advantage of playing at home in the second leg, the material for the Reds’ players is also slightly better.
Ranieri did not deny this fact. But he considered Inter to have a chance to make a surprise.
“It will be a good game and the result is challenging to predict. Liverpool are very strong, but you can see Inzaghi’s hand at Inter,” Ranieri told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
He inherited the winning team from (Antonio) Conte with doubts after the sales of Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi. But Inter are going really fast now.”
Inter did manage to deal with the departures of Conte, Lukaku and Hakimi well. It is proven that La Beneamata is now in the best form by leading the Serie A standings and qualifying for the last 16 of the Champions League.
Ranieri’s advice
Ranieri is not just a supporter of Inter. He also gave advice to city rivals, AC Milan to defeat Liverpool.
Ranieri certainly knows Liverpool better than Inzaghi. The man who is now in charge of Watford has been used to facing Jurgen Klopp’s side since becoming Leicester City manager.
“First of all, they (Inter) have to face both games with determination and without feeling inferior. Never take anything for granted in football.”
“They have to limit mistakes because it can be very important in the Champions League, especially against big clubs. There are times on the pitch when you have positive or negative feelings, so you have to listen to them and act accordingly.”
In addition, Ranieri asked Inter to be aware of the Anfield atmosphere. Liverpool’s headquarters can present a nightmare for the visitors including Lautaro Martinez and his team.
“If you let the Anfield atmosphere overwhelm you, you won’t go far,” Ranieri said.
Inter will first host Liverpool on February 16. This match must be used by the Italian representative to win.
This will at least ease their task when they travel to Anfield, March 8. Getting rid of Liverpool is not an impossible thing to do for Inter.
