Compared to the past, Messi and Ronaldo have a much different game

Especially when they both still defended Barcelona and Real Madrid in El Clasico meetings. The rivalry between Messi and Ronaldo motivates both of them to continue to give their all to be the best.

The debate over who is the best between Ronaldo and Messi is still ongoing among fans, a debate that never ends. Both Ronaldo and Messi each have their advantages and disadvantages.

Because of the high level of play shown by Messi and Ronaldo, both of them are called aliens. In fact, both have dominated the Ballon d’Or in recent years.

But nothing lasts forever, nor does age. Both Messi and Ronaldo are no longer young. They have started to feel the difficulty of playing: Messi with new club PSG, Ronaldo in his second spell with Manchester United.

Football pundit and English football legend, Gary Lineker asked the public to lower their expectations for Ronaldo and Messi who are no longer in their youth.

“Messi turns 35 in June. Ronaldo has just turned 37 years old. We may all have to lower our expectations for them,” Lineker said.

“They’re still doing amazing things, but even these gods of football can’t go against time forever.”

Lineker himself did not want to compare the two and chose one of the best between them, but he admitted that he enjoyed Messi’s game as much as the Argentine legend, Diego Maradona.

“They give us happiness. There are other great players, like the two Ronaldos, for example, but I think of them more as extraordinary goalscorers.

“Diego and Leo do, and do, in every game, two or three things that neither I nor almost anyone else does in their entire career. They play different sports. I love Cristiano too. I have a lot of respect for him, he’s great too.”

“But my honest opinion on football is that there is no comparison of who is the best because of the things Leo does. That said, it even hurts me to compare them, because both are great.”
