Considered to be the Golden Child of the Premier League, Mikel Arteta Responds
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, opened his voice regarding allegations his team received special treatment from the Premier League. Arteta insists, the Gunners have been honest.
Arsenal received negative sentiment after asking the match against Tottenham Hotspur (14/1) to be postponed. Arsenal reasoned that at that time there were a number of players who had Covid-19, were injured, and were absent due to playing in the African Cup of Nations.
Arsenal’s request also received approval from the Premier League. The decision drew a lot of criticism.
One of the parties who feel the most aggrieved is Tottenham Hotspur. Tottenham boss Antonio Conte admits that this is the first time he has seen a match postponed due to the request of an injured team.
Not accepting his team was cornered, Mikel Arteta opened his voice. He considered, Arsenal did not do anything wrong.
“We don’t have the necessary players to put together a team in the Premier League. I guarantee it 100 per cent,” said Arteta as reported by Sky Sports.
“I don’t know if they understand. If a team came and said they asked for the game to be postponed and why, we wouldn’t have questioned it openly. We wouldn’t have done that.”
“That’s why we have the Premier League, FA and regulations. It’s all to know and do what is necessary to postpone games and keep the competition fair,” continued the manager.
“We know we’re doing the right thing. If anything changes, at least we’re honest.”
“We’re not going to let anyone ruin Arsenal’s name or try to lie about what hasn’t happened. If we make a mistake, we’ll raise our hands. However, we will do everything we can to defend this club.”
Next, Arsenal will meet Liverpool in the second leg of the English League Cup semifinal, Friday (21/1) early morning WIB. In the first leg, both teams played equally strong 0-0.
