Corona Impact Plague, Serie A Threatened to be Canceled

By db-admin

DBasia.news –  Italy is still struggling with the threat of the corona virus. With the community being focused on the pandemic, forget the idea of continuing football.

Italy has so far reported more than 80 thousand positive cases of the corona virus. The number of fatalities has now exceeded 8 thousand, which is the highest in the world.

The threat of the virus which is also known as Covid-19 has already stopped the Italian League. The suspension is scheduled to take effect until April 3rd, but it is likely to be extended to see the current situation which has not improved significantly.

Italian Sports Minister Vincenzo Spadafora has even stated that the discourse of continuing the competition on May 3rd still even looks too early. Former Juventus midfielder Angelo Di Livio suggested the competition should be canceled, including Serie A.

“The time has come to close everything and cancel this season. There is no point in playing, people think of everything except this championship,” he told Tuttosport, as quoted by Football Italia.

“It is also uncertain when the competition can continue, many matches will collide, and the entire competition system will be in trouble, considering that next year there will be a European Cup.”

“I think it is right to cancel the season and start anew again in July or August. That’s the only way to save Italian football,” he added.

Juventus currently lead the Italian League standings with 63 points from 26 matches, Lazio sticked behind them with one point away. While Inter Milan is third with 54 points from 25 matches.
