DBasia.news – The poseponement in soccer competition due to the corona virus pandemic has a big impact. A study shows that this will have an impact on the value of player transfers.
The total transfer value in the five major leagues of Europe, England, Spain, Germany, Italy and France is said to have decreased by 28 percent, from 32.7 billion euros to 23.4 billion euros if no more matches are held this season and the player contracts which runs out of June are not updated. According to a study conducted by the Football Observatory in Switzerland.
“The amount of decline varies depending on several factors, such as the age of the player, the duration of the contract, the player’s track record, and current performance,” the study explained as quoted by Reuters.
Older players generally have shorter contract durations and appear fewer. These people will be more affected. The study makes Paul Pogba as an example.
The Manchester United midfielder from France is currently 27 years old and his contract will expire next year. With that note, Pogba’s transfer value is expected to drop more than half to only 35 million euros. As is known Man United must spend 105 million euros to bring Pogba from Juventus.
Studies also show a decline in the market value of clubs. For example, the total market value of Manchester City players is likely to be cut to 412 million euros. The figures according to the study are the highest depreciation in the five major European leagues.
