Coutinho Possibly Return to the Premier League Because of Steven Gerrard
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Philippe Coutinho could return to the Premier League. Coutinho is reportedly being approached by Aston Villa, who is coached by Steven Gerrard, a former colleague at Liverpool.
The Brazilian midfielder was dimmed after leaving Liverpool to join Barcelona in the winter of 2018. As a result, Coutinho was immediately loaned out in his second full season to Bayern Munich before returning to Camp Nou in 2020.
Even so, Coutinho has never been free from questions about his future at Barca. Moreover, Coutinho is one of the highest paid players, while the Blaugrana must be economical in connection with the financial crisis.
It is undeniable, there is a great opportunity for Coutinho to leave Camp Nou. You see, the 29-year-old player is not Xavi’s first choice so he has only played five times. Including being a starter in LaLiga before being parked because of the corona virus.
Now Aston Villa offers a way out for Philippe Coutinho to continue his career. According to Cadena Cope’s report, Villa and Barcelona have started talks for the loan of Coutinho until the end of the 2021/2022 season.
Meanwhile, Spanish journalist Gerrard Romero reports that Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard has even contacted Coutinho personally to discuss the move.
Gerrard and Coutinho have been teammates for three seasons at Liverpool. Moreover, Gerrard’s Aston Villa looks promising after only three defeats in the Premier League, and even then from top teams such as Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea.
Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez has hinted that he doesn’t mind releasing Philippe Coutinho. “I haven’t spoken to Philippe yet,” he said. “He is a great professional player and always contributes when he plays.”
“[But] to sign players, someone has to come out first, that’s clear. We need to balance the finances in order to bring in players. We are trying, but I haven’t spoken to Philippe yet,” added Xavi about Coutinho’s future.
