By db-admin

DBasia.news –  Referee Craig Pawson will lead Manchester United vs Liverpool. Reportedly, Pawson often issued cards to players of the Red Devils. In total 19 times, Pawson has led the Liverpool vs MU match.

Despite topping 14 points with Manchester City in second place and still having one match remaining, Liverpool will certainly face a difficult match. The Reds will play Manchester United, the only team capable of stealing points from Liverpool this season.

While United need a victory to be able to compete for positions in the top four of the standings. Therefore this fight has significance for both sides.

After learning of the match led by referee Craig Pawson, Man United supporters rushed to react badly. Pawson is considered to be more profitable for Liverpool as the host. Some considered Pawson to be a weak referee and would rely more on the VAR. If that happens, United fans feel Liverpool will benefit.

In contrast, Liverpool supporters also did not welcome the appointment of Craig Pawson. Liverpool supporters immediately remembered the match against Manchester United in March 2018. At that time Liverpool lost 1-2 when appearing at Old Trafford.

Liverpool felt disadvantaged because in the match referee Pawson refused their penalty request, not just one, but four penalty requests.

Not only was the Liverpool stronghold disappointed with the referee’s decision, but football observer Chris Kamara also claimed to be surprised by the referee’s performance. “I think there are three or four penalties,” said Kamara, who was then a commentator on television.

Other Controversies

In addition to Man United’s match against Liverpool in March 2018, Pawson has another controversial record.

In December 2016, former referee Howard Webb suggested to the Premier League to overturn the decision to appoint Craig Pawson as referee of Liverpool’s match against Manchester City on New Year’s Eve. Howard made the incident in the previous fight as a foundation.

Pawson in the spotlight after giving a red card to Jamie Vardy in the Leicester City match against Stoke City. The decision was considered wrong. After the match, Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri approached Pawson immediately to launch a protest, until the security team had to be separated.

Worse yet, three days earlier Pawson also left controversy while leading when Manchester United defeated Crystal Palace 2-1. In that match, Pawson was judged to have made several important mistakes, one of which was when he did not give a red card to United defender Marcus Rojo.

Besides Howard Webb, another experienced referee Graham Poll also asked Pawson to take a break for a while and did not receive an assignment. “We (the referee) are responsible. We make mistakes, we influence the results, and we have to pay for mistakes.”

Latest, the Premier League decided to withdraw the assignment of Craig Pawson in the Week 21 match yesterday. Premier League crossed out Pawson’s name from the list of referees on duty. Indeed Pawson will be serving in the Emirates stadium as the fourth official.

This decision was taken following Pawson’s performance while leading an Arsenal match against Chelsea, also at the Emirates. In the match won by Chelsea 2-1, Pawson was judged to have made a mistake by not sending Jorginho away.

In that match, Jorginho, who had gotten a yellow card, was clearly attractive to Matteo Guendouzi. But Jorginho was separated from the second yellow card which was given by Pawson to Alexandre Lacazette.

After being rested, Pawson is now back in charge of a hot fight full of rivalry, Liverpool cons Manchester United.
