David Alaba has a heavy burden at Real Madrid after being left by Sergio Ramos

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Until now, Eden Hazard still cannot replace Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid. Now, it’s David Alaba’s turn to get a challenge to patch the hole left by Sergio Ramos. The question is, can Alaba do it?

Great hopes has escorted Eden Hazard’s move to the Santiago Bernabeu. The Belgium international player has a slick track record at Chelsea. Not surprisingly, a number of parties has began to view Hazard as a substitute for Ronaldo who went to Juventus.

Real Madrid also spent a lot of money to sign Hazard. Los Blancos disbursed funds of up to 115 million euros in the summer of 2019.

However, until now, Hazard still makes Madrid wary. The 30 year old player has only appeared in 43 matches with five goals plus eight assists.

The bad record cannot be separated from the injuries he suffered. In addition, Hazard is considered not to have reached his best physical condition. In fact, on several occasions, Hazard appeared overweight.

Now, David Alaba faces almost a similar challenge. The Austrian national team player replaced another Madrid legend, Sergio Ramos.

Madrid did not seem to hinder the departure of Ramos to Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer. The success of getting David Alaba is accused of being the reason.

David Alaba was brought in from Bayern Munich for free. Madrid tied the 29 year old defender until 2026.

Interestingly, Alaba also dared to use the number 4 jersey which was previously owned by Ramos. As a result, some parties were even more excited to compare Alaba’s performance with Ramos.

For the record, what Ramos achieved with Madrid was gold ink. The Spaniard won four Champions League titles, five LaLiga titles and two Copa del Rey trophies. In addition, he also won four Club World Cup titles.

Inevitably, the benchmark for Alaba is getting harder and harder. Moreover, Madrid is in danger of losing Raphael Varane who continues to be linked with Manchester United. If the French player leaves, Madrid will need to find another partner for Alaba.

In the introduction ceremony, Alaba denied that he deliberately used the number 4 jersey as a sign that he was coming to replace Ramos.

“I am honored to use the number 4. It is a great pride and motivation. I want to do it fairly,” said Alaba.

“However, I am not here to compare myself to other players or replace them. I am here to remain Alaba.”

However, it is challenging for David Alaba to dismiss comparisons with Sergio Ramos. That scene also happened to Hazard, who was always labeled as Ronaldo’s successor. Not surprisingly, a huge burden is now on David Alaba’s shoulders.
