David Luiz Continues Career at Chelsea until 2021

DBasia.news –  Chelsea defender David Luiz continues his tenure with the club. Had been rumored to leave the Stamford Bridge, Luiz signed a new contract with the duration of a two-year contract – until 2021.

Previously, there were quite a lot who predicted that the Blues would not extend Luiz’s contract, given the age of 32 years. Roman Abramovich’s club also has rules that will only provide a one-season contract for players over the age of 30 years.

Responding to the new contract he just got, Luiz spoke up. The Brazilian feels very happy because he will stay at Stamford Bridge.

“I am very happy with Chelsea and very grateful to have the opportunity to stay alive. I really love this club and still have ambitions like young players,” Luiz said as quoted by the club’s official website.

“I was very happy because I could help the team get back to the European competition finals. Chelsea also still had the opportunity to close the season in third place in the final standings. I will continue to try to show the best performance to help this team,” added the former PSG player.

Maurizio Sarri’s arrival at the start of the 2018/19 season seems to have been a blessing for David Luiz, the Brazilian player returned to being a mainstay in defense and this season has appeared in 48 matches with a score of three goals and two assists.

Marina Granovskaia as director of the Blues also expressed a positive reaction related to the agreement reached by both parties to extend cooperation with players who also had time to defend Benfica.
