David Moyes: Great Is Not Enough to Train Man United
By db-admin
DBasia.news – West Ham United manager, David Moyes, has commented on Manchester United who are currently looking for a new permanent manager for next season. Moyes thinks being a great coach is not enough to be successful at Old Trafford.
Manchester United are currently in the process of searching for a new permanent manager next summer.
So far, the Red Devils have started to be linked with several top names, but recently started to focus on the names of Erik Ten Hag [Ajax Amsterdam] and Mauricio Pochettino [Paris Saint-Germain].
Responding to Man United’s efforts to bring in a new manager, David Moyes, who had become the number one man at Old Trafford in the 2013/14 season, assessed that the status of a great coach was not enough to become the manager of the Red Devils.
Moyes said Manchester United had been coached by two of the best managers in the world in Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho, but both were considered failures. Moyes assesses to achieve success at MU, a manager must succeed in restoring the rhythm of the game like the era of Sir Alex Ferguson.
“I keep hearing about Man United needing a top coach to make the difference. Man United themselves had Jose Mourinho and Louis van Gaal who were two of the best coaches in the world – both incredible, both winners,” Moyes told The Athletic.
“One was a great coach, the other a winner. Man United had top managers. [I] don’t put myself in that category, but they were coached by some great managers.”
“Their problem at the moment is that it is difficult to find someone who is able to return to the rhythm of the game like when coached by Sir Alex. If you look at their performance far back, they really performed extraordinary,” he concluded.
