David Moyes: Wayne Rooney Wants to Go When I Join Manchester United

DBasia.news – Moyes also mentioned Manchester City had never been an option for Rooney when he expressed his intention to leave in 2013 ago.
David Moyes admitted that Wayne Rooney wanted to leave Manchester United when he arrived, but Manchester City was never an option for him.
As is known, in the summer of 2013 there was a change of leadership capacity at Old Trafford, with Sir Alex Ferguson’s position filled by Moyes as the legendary manager’s retirement decision.
Before that, Rooney, who was sold by Moyes to United in 2004 when he was at Everton, was widely associated with a move to another team but Ferguson’s successor was able to persuade him to stay.
To beIN Sports, Moyes said: “Wayne wanted to leave when I joined Manchester United, and I knew that when I arrived, that he wanted to change clubs.
“But at that time I wanted him. I want him to stay.
“I have been thinking about the opportunity to work with Wayne again, I think it will help me, and he did it, he is very good.” Moyes is a figure who skyrocketed Rooney’s talent during his time at Goodison Park, with him making his debut at the age of 16.
He then talked about his transfer saga to Old Trafford: “Yes, I know [where Rooney was going to go].
“But I must admit that I took a little lesson from the owner of Manchester United at the time.
“I think Wayne asked to be sold and Manchester United’s owner came and said ‘You wouldn’t think we would listen to a transfer request, we already had a much better player, many players asked to be sold, we told them when we wanted them to leave from Manchester United.”
Moyes then explained that City, who were keen to bring in players, was not Rooney’s destination. “No, he is reluctant to defect to City,
“So at that time there was another Premier League club who wanted him.”
In 2015, Moyes called Chelsea a club interested in bringing Rooney, precisely when power at Stamford Bridge still belonged to Jose Mourinho.
