De Ligt reveals why Juventus lost to Torino

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Juventus failed to achieve full points when they hosted Torino in the 2021-2022 Serie A continuation. Bianconeri centre-back, Matthijs De Ligt opened up about this result.

The match titled Derby della Mole which took place at the Allianz Stadium, Saturday (19/2) morning WIB, ended with the score 1-1. These results has threatened Juventus’ position in the top four.

Juventus, who appeared for their public, were able to take the lead through De Ligt’s header in the 13th minute. But after that, Juventus were to be overwhelmed by Torino’s game.

Torino was finally able to equalize in the 62nd minute. Andrea Belotti’s spectacular shot was unable to be anticipated by Wojciech Szczesny.

De Ligt is certainly disappointed that his goal was not enough to bring Juventus to victory. However, he considered this could not be separated from the crisis of players in his team’s defense.

Juventus did lose three centre-backs including Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci through injury. This forced De Ligt to play with Alex Sandro, who played as a full-back.

“It was an emergency moment but Alex Sandro did well. We have a lot of desire to score goals,” De Ligt told DAZN.

De Ligt did not blame Alex Sandro in Torino’s goal process. However, he felt it could have been avoided had Juventus appeared with a pure central defender duo to guard Belotti’s movement.

“It was a strange game because Torino attack with four on the left, it’s three of us and sometimes you have to go out,” he added.

“With crosses it was very important that the two centre-backs were inside. Whereas when Belotti went wide I had to come in and help my team mates.”

Massimiliano Allegri’s problems must be addressed in Juventus’ defense. The Old Lady must not lose any more points if they still want to appear in the Champions League next season.

De Ligt himself never panicked in this situation. He believes he can perform optimally to guard Juventus’ defense.

“We’ve played a lot of games with a lot of players out. We have a lot of quality, I’m not worried but we’ll see who will be ready to play.”
