DBasia.news – AS Monaco is increasingly suffered in the competition for ticket to European club competition due to a 1-2 defeat to the OGC Nice in the 28th week of the French League at the Allianz Riviera Stadium on Saturday.
Been leading first through a goal by Wissam Ben Yedder, Monaco conceded twice by Kasper Dolberg. Even Dolberg’s second goal was made in second-half injury time, after Monaco were forced to finish the match with 10 players because of Stevan Jovetic’s red card in the 86th minute.
Monaco also slipped to ninth position or one point behind Nice who jumped to sixth with 41 points, according to the French League official website.
Monaco appeared more dominant from the start and attempted few trial shots, including Jovetic’s long-range strike which was still successfully secured by goalkeeper Walter Benitez in the 21st minute as well as Tiemoue Bakayoko’s speculative shot three minutes later.
In the 32nd minute, Monaco finally made a goal from their dominance when they took advantage of a counter-attack that ended with a breakthrough bait by Bakayoko and executed perfectly by Ben Yedder.
Four minutes later, Jovetic almost doubled Monaco’s goal if only his shot had not hit the crossbar and the score remained 1-0 for Monaco until halftime.
The home team pressed back at the start of the second half but Alexis Claude Maurice’s shot could still be saved by goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte.
Nice successfully equalized the score in the 59th minute when Adam Ounas sent in a cross which was executed by Dolberg’s sharp header to the away team’s goal. The goal was almost overtaken quickly if only Lecomte did not block Pierre Lees-Melou’s long-range shot three minutes later.
In the 84th minute, Jovetic fouled hard Arnaud Lusamba who was previously rewarded a yellow card, but after consulting with VAR, referee Amaury raised his sentence to a red card.
Monaco seemed unaffected to Jovetic’s red
card and almost restored the lead when Aleksandr Golovin’s shot hit the
crossbar, but the inequality slowly felt
and in the third minute of injury time Dolberg scored his second goal from
close range to ensure the host’s 2-1 victory.
