Defeated by Tottenham Hotspur, David Moyes Blames Tight Schedule

DBasia.news – West Ham United must bend their knees when defeated by Tottenham Hotspur with a score of 0-2 in the continued Premiere League on Wednesday (6/24). Swallowing the defeat made the manager, David Moyes blamed the busy schedule in the Premiere League.

Moyes is not happy his team was asked to play twice in a period of four days when Tottenham enjoyed a longer break.

West Ham were beaten 0-2 at home by Wolverhampton Wanderers last Saturday when the Premier League resumed after a three month break due to the corona virus pandemic. Tottenham drew 1-1 against Manchester United last Friday.

“I have told the Premiere League that we cannot play eight days (after Tuesday), why can’t we play Wednesday or Thursday night,” Moyes said.

“It’s a bad decision from the Premiere League and television (which broadcasts live broadcasts) also doesn’t help.”

The remaining 92 Premiere League matches are packed for up to five weeks and all of them are broadcast live on television because fans are not allowed to go to the stadium.

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho sympathizes with Moyes. “To be honest, I don’t think it’s fair for West Ham to come here with less than 24 hours of preparation compared to us. For the moment it’s not good,” he told reporters.

Moyes was also unhappy with Tottenham’s opening goal which was an own goal by Tomas Soucek. Moyes said the ball had first touched Davinson Sanchez’s hand before touching Soucek.

“I don’t think they endorsed it as a goal,” he said. “Whoever it is, VAR does not do its job properly.”

Defeat makes West Ham only thin above the relegation zone because they only superior productivity goals against Bournemouth who could straddle again West Ham if they avoid defeat against Wolves on Thursday morning.

Since Moyes arrived to replace Manuel Pellegrini who was sacked, West Ham have won only two of 12 Premiere League matches. They are increasingly alarmed because their next opponent is Chelsea.
