DBasia.news – Chelsea managed to rise to the top three of the Premiere League standings after defeating Crystal Palace with a score of 3-2 in the continued Premiere League, Wednesday (8/7) AM.
Olivier Giroud, Christian Pulisic and Tammy Abraham each scored for Chelsea in the victory, while Palace could only reply twice through Wilfried Zaha and Christian Benteke.
The victory led Chelsea to temporarily move up to third place with a collection of 60 points, displacing Leicester City (58) who played in a more late game, while Palace (42) are stuck in 14th place of the standings, according to the official Premiere League website page.
Frank Lampard’s team started the match well and it only took six minutes to open the scoring when Giroud welcomed Willian’s pass to send the ball into the far corner.
The goal caused controversy as Palace defender, Gary Cahill collapsed first through an injury before the Chelsea players ignored him and continued their attack until he netted the home goal.
Whatever it is, Chelsea still had the advantage and almost double it in the 10th minute when Willian’s corner kick was welcomed by Kurt Zouma, unfortunately his header still deviated from the target.
Chelsea’s superiority finally doubled in the 27th minute when Pulisic completed the chances resulting from the collaboration of Willian and Giroud before firing a shot that could not be anticipated by goalkeeper, Vicente Guaita.
In the 33rd minute, Willian almost added the advantage of Chelsea, unfortunately his shot was able to be secured by Guaita and a minute later Palace actually managed to minimize the lag to 1-2 through a brilliant long-range shot released by Zaha.
At the end of the first half, the score almost went to a draw, unfortunately Benteke’s header welcomed Luka Milivojevic’s free-kick went right into the arms of goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabala and Chelsea’s superiority remained unchanged until the break.
The second half appeared balanced, but neither Chelsea nor Palace had yet to find a good finish in the final third of the pitch.
Until the 71st minute, Abraham, who had played for six minutes to replace Giroud, succeeded in scoring Chelsea’s third goal by using Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s cross.
A minute later, Palace scored a reply through a close-range effort by Benteke to complete a pass from Patrick van Aanholt and changed the score to 2-3.
The visitors almost restored their two-goal lead four minutes ahead of normal time when Willian offered the ball to Mason to finish, but Guaita was quick to keep the danger away.
Palace kept trying to find a goal to equalize until injury time, but their two chances were driven away by Andreas Christensen and Reece James before Scott Dann found his header against the post to ensure Chelsea still pocketed the full three points of the match.
Chelsea will play their 35th week of action first at home to Sheffield United on Saturday (11/7), while Palace will only play a day later visiting Aston Villa’s headquarters.
