Defeating Verona, AS Roma in the Top Four of the Italian League Standings

DBasia.news –  AS Roma successfully defeated Verona with a score of 3-1 in a match that took place at the Marcantonio Bantegodi Stadium, Verona on Monday (2/12) early morning. The victory succeeded in bringing AS Roma into the top four of the Italian League standings.

An additional three points to push Rome up two positions to fourth place with a collection of 28 points, while Verona still occupies the eighth rank with 18 points, as reported by the official website of the Italian League.

The Giallorossi broke the deadlock in the 17th minute with Lorenzo Pellegrini’s eighth assist of the season. He sent a breakthrough to Justin Kluivert on the left, and the Dutchman beat Marco Silvestri from a tight angle.

Roma’s excellence did not last long, Verona was able to equalize four minutes later. Mattia Zaccagni sends the perfect ball to be greeted by Marco Davide Faraoni’s header.

Verona striker Samuel Di Carmine broke into Roma’s goal a few minutes later through a volley into the bottom corner of the goal, but the goal was not validated because he was first in an offside position.

Roma goalkeeper again conceded in the 38th minute when Darko Lazovic continued the bait pull Faraoni into a goal. But after a VAR review, Lavozic was found to be in an offside position.

When Verona tried to attack more, Roma restored their lead in the 45th minute. Edin Dzeko was carelessly violated by Koray Gunter to have the hosts penalized. Substitute Diego Perotti successfully carried out his duties as an executioner.

Roma survived more in the second half, which made Verona dominate more possession of the ball. However, Pellegrini still had time to bother Verona goalkeeper Marco Silvestri through a counterattack.

Giampaolo Pazzini was played as a substitute for Verona replacing Mattia Zaccagni in the 80th minute. The Roma camp then was alarmed when Chris Smalling’s arm was stated about the ball in the forbidden box, fortunately for them, the offside flag was first appointed by the line judge.

Roma secured this victory through a counterattack. Pellegrini was again involved through his breakthrough pass to Perotti into the penalty box, he then sent the ball to Henrikh Mkhitaryan to continue to be the closing goal.
