DBasia.news –  The continuation of the 2019/2020 Italian League amid the corona virus pandemic left a question mark. However, the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) ensures that there will still be a champion this season.

The Italian League is currently suspended due to the corona virus pandemic. The suspension is scheduled to take effect until at least April 3rd, but it’s more likely to be extended due to the situation in Italy that’s still not improving.

Italy has became one of the worst European countries affected by the corona virus. Until Friday (3/27/2020) local time, Italy has recorded 86,498 cases of corona virus with a mortality rate of 9,134 people.

A number of options about how the Italian League should be continued also appear. There is also a throwing discourse to cancel the competition.

However, FIGC President Gabriele Gravina is still optimistic that this season’s competition can be completed. He also made sure the Scudetto would remain this season.

“There are plans that we make a priority. We will be happy to complete the season on the field. We have already contacted FIFA to extend the contract in case we have to hold the league until more than June 30th,” Gravina told Sky Sport Italia.

“We must find a solution and ideally the current season runs until July 30th. We must follow the rules and what is issued by the authorities in political and scientific matters.”

“If we can’t play, we still want to maintain the values of competition that are on the field. We will talk about where the scudetto will be given, but that is the decision of the Federal Council.”

“We still have to decide on the composition of the team for next season, from European competition to promotion and relegation,” he said.
