Despite Being 1-0 Ahead of Away Goals, Pique Didn’t Want Barca to Underestimate Man United

DBasia.news – Barcelona won the victory at Old Trafford, the headquarters of Manchester United, in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final, Thursday (11/4) WIB.
In the match that ended with a slim 1-0, Luke Shaw’s own goal in the 13th minute ensured the victory of Ernesto Valverde’s side.
Although he managed to put one foot in the semifinals and steal away goals, one of Barcelona’s tough defenders, Gerard Pique was reluctant to be complacent. He also asked his team-mates to remain vigilant about the Red Devils, considering that in the previous match they had made a fantastic comeback and got rid of Paris Saint-Germain who was already 2-0 ahead.
“After seeing what Manchester United did when they met Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of the last 16, there was no reason for Barcelona to assume that this match was over,” said Pique as quoted by Fox Sports Asia.
“Paris Saint-Germain is clearly one of the favorites, they also play better compared to Manchester United, but see what happens. Everything can happen in the world of football. Now Barcelona must stay focused,” added the 32 year old player.
Even though he can only score one goal, Barcelona does seem to master the game at Old Trafford. Even Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s foster children couldn’t do shots on target for 90 minutes.
The second leg match between Barcelona v Manchester United will be held at Camp Nou on 17th April. Previously, Ernesto Valverde’s squad will first undergo an away match to Huesca’s headquarters in the 32nd week of La Liga, Saturday (13/4).
