Diego Costa praises Chelsea fans
By db-admin
DBasia.news – The match in Week 10 of the Premier League when Chelsea against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Stamford Bridge became a special match for Diego Costa.
For the first time in five years Costa returns to Stamford Bridge as an opponent (Costa the Wolves striker). After leaving Chelsea, Costa defended Atletico Madrid, Atletico Mineiro, and was recently recruited by Wolves as a free agent or free player.
During his three years with Chelsea, Costa successfully presented two Premier League titles and one League Cup. Costa always gave it his all when trusted to appear and is known for his aggressive playing.
Costa’s prime has passed but when he gave everything for Chelsea the fans didn’t forget him. Costa also praised Chelsea fans with the warm welcome he received when he played at Stamford Bridge, although in the end the Wolves lost 0-3.
“The people here are unbelievable. I think this is the best fanbase I’ve ever seen,” Costa said as quoted by Standard Sports.
“I have been at many clubs with great fan bases, but I think the fans here have given me the most support. There is something different about them.”
“I wasn’t expecting it today but I was expecting it too because they always showed me so much love. I just wanted to thank them.”
On the same occasion, Costa also satirized Antonio Conte, the Tottenham Hotspur coach who had coached Chelsea. Conte was the cause of Costa’s departure as he didn’t want him at Chelsea at that time.
“I’ve never had a problem with the fans. My problem isn’t with the crowd, it’s with the coach (Conte). I left with a bad relationship with the manager, I left the champions for the second time, and he didn’t count on me,” added Costa.
“There’s nothing I can do. I have to go. Today showed that I didn’t leave with a bad relationship with the fans.”
“This is special. The feeling that in the time you spent here you did a great job and left great memories,” Costa stated.
