Dimitar Berbatov Discusses Tottenham Hotspur’s Decreasing Performance

By db-admin

DBasia.news –  Speculation of the departure of Mauricio Pochettino from Tottenham Hotspur is considered by Dimitar Berbatov as the culprit of the decline in his team’s performance.

Pochettino, 47, has coached Spurs from 2014 and developed the club into one of the regular residents of the Champions League zone, plus a Premier League title fighter. But this season the situation is different.

Tottenham didn’t start the 2019-20 season well. Berbatov, a former Spurs player in mid-2006-2008, assessed the downturn had something to do with the issue of Pochettino’s departure to replace Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid.

“The constant rumors about work at Real Madrid are confusing to the people involved. In that situation, when you read things like this, you start asking yourself. Am I in the right place? Do I have to move now? is it time for a change? ” said Berbatov, reported from Marca.

“That does not positively affect anyone. Everyone must put that thought aside and let Pochettino focus on his job as Tottenham manager. There will be a time when he says goodbye, but I hope not now.”

However, Berbatov, 38, also hopes that Pochettino will not leave Tottenham Hotspur shortly. Berbatov was sure that sooner or later Pochettino would part with Spurs.

“I hope he (Mauricio Pochettino) is not satisfied with Spurs, he has been there for almost six years, he is one of the managers with the longest tenure in the Premier League,” Berbatov added.

“I know sometimes when you lose, those negative things can arise in your mind: you start to question yourself and ask if you can (or can’t) motivate your players.”

“Why does he want to go? For me he is in the right place with the right team, he knows what to do and of course, it has become his decision if he does not want to stay,” concluded the Bulgarian.
