DBasia.news – Christian Eriksen’s condition is now stable. Danish team doctor Morten Boesen revealed the crucial moment when trying to help Eriksen on the field.
The Danish football star suddenly fell unconscious in the closing minutes of the Euro 2020 match against Finland last night. The medical team rushed to treat Eriksen who fell motionless on the field.
The players of the two teams, especially Denmark and the audience broke out in tears watching the incident that happened to the Inter Milan midfielder. Eriksen then received CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) before being carried off the field on a stretcher to a local hospital.
Boesen said that Christian Eriksen’s heart rate was getting slower and slower. But in the end after first aid Eriksen was able to regain consciousness.
“He was breathing, and I could feel his heartbeat. But suddenly that changed. And as everyone witnessed, we started giving CPR,” Boesen told the AP.
“We were able to get Christian back and he was able to speak to me before he was taken to hospital.”
The Denmark vs Finland match was decided to be suspended before resuming in the next few hours after Eriksen’s condition was confirmed to be improving. In the end Denmark was forced to give up with a score of 0-1.
Denmark coach, Kasper Hjulmand understands his team’s defeat. “Of course you can’t play a game with that feeling,” he said.
“What we tried to do was extraordinary. It was amazing because the players were able to come out and try to play the second half of the game,” Hjulmand praised the attitude of his team players after Eriksen’s incident.
