Donny van de Beek Was Compared to Thomas Muller
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Owen Hargreaves saw Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek like Bayern Munich’s Thomas Muller.
Van de Beek has struggled to break into Manchester United’s main squad since being signed off from Ajax Amsterdam last summer. Many people consider himself a futile recruit because he cannot compete with other Red Devils midfielders.
Whereas Van de Beek always gave evidence when given the opportunity to appear. One of them was when he appeared from the first minute when Manchester United slaughtered RB Leipzig with a score of 5-0 in the second match of Group H of the 2020-2021 Champions League, Thursday (29/10).
Van de Beek played pretty well to move Manchester United’s midfield. He is also diligent in opening spaces which are very useful in improving the circulation of the ball for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team.
This is what makes Hargreaves think Van de Beek is similar to Muller. Not only related to the playing characters, but also the public’s view that underestimated the abilities of the two.
“Everyone tries to get Thomas Muller out of the team, but once he’s in, you can’t take him out again. He’s capable of scoring goals, assists, very selfless, can press, works in midfield, and plays as number 8 or 10,” said Hargreaves to BT Sport.
“Van de Beek could be like Thomas Muller for Bayern Munich. Once he’s in the team, Ole will have a hard time getting him out.”
His neat appearance against Leipzig could pave the way for Van de Beek to win a main place in the Manchester United squad. He is still waiting for the opportunity to be installed as a starter in the premier League event.
