Dortmund Young Stars Always Appear Total for the Deceased Brother

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Aside from Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland, Borussia Dortmund still has one other charming young player. He is Giovanni Reyna who just debuted in January. He is the son of a former US national team star, Claudio Reyna.

Giovanni Reyna was predicted as a successor to Christian Pulisic who shot at a young age with Dortmund. It was not without cause. He has the talent and skill qualified. In addition, the 17-year-old turned out to have a special impetus.

Giovanni wants to be a soccer star in order to make his late brother, Jack Reyna, proud. “He is my reason for being here today. I want to make him proud,” he said as quoted by Sport1.

The father, Claudio Reyna, agrees that. According to him, the tragic death of Jack due to a rare brain tumor at the age of 13 in 2012 was what forged Giovanni. Losing the oldest sibling in childhood is a hard thing, but also an extraordinary lesson.

“He always carries that memory everywhere. That memory is the reason he grew up like this. He was forged because he had to accept that,” explained Claudio Reyna to The Athletic.

“Claudio Reyna then remembered Giovanni and Jack’s childhood. I always see him chasing Jack, wanting to do anything with him,” said the former Bayer Leverkusen and VfL Wolfsburg player.

In playing football, Jack also influences Giovanni Reyna. Thanks to his brother, Giovanni became more often playing with older children. That teaches many things. Claudio believes it helped shape the character and game of the young Dortmund star.
