Due To Injury, Liverpool Goalkeeper Absent Against Atletico Madrid
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Liverpool are currently experiencing a negative trend after Jurgen Klopp’s team have lost three of their last four matches. One of them is the match against Chelsea in the FA Cup match. The Reds’ condition worsened after the manager said that their main goalkeeper, Alisson Becker suffered a waist injury.
Alisson was not brought during the match against Chelsea (04/03) because he was reported to have suffered a minor injury. But after further examination, it turns out the Brazilian national team player’s injury was worse than expected.
Juergen Klopp confirmed that Alisson will miss the Premier League match against Bournemouth on Saturday (07/03). And the Champions League second leg match against Atletico Madrid on Thursday (12/03).
“During the training session before the game against Chelsea, there was a small incident that we thought was okay. And he was not going to play as planned, but he should be on the bench. But we didn’t want to take the risk, so we decided not to bring him. But the next day, after undergoing the test results, they found something else,” Klopp said as reported by Sky Sport.
The former Borussia Dortmund coach said that Alisson might return after the international break.
“He will definitely not play next week and after that we will see. The injury is on the ping pong part, you can still play, but for a professional goalkeeper the situation is somewhat different. I think he will come back 100% after the international break,” said the German coach.
Alisson Becker returned playing with an outstanding performance this season. The former AS Roma goalkeeper conceded only 11 times in 20 matches in the Premier League, and managed to record 12 clean sheets.
