Edouard Mendy Is Chelsea’s Savior against Brentford

DBasia.news – Chelsea did manage to bring home the three points in their visit to Brentford headquarters in the 2021-2022 Premier League. But it would not have happened without the role of Edouard Mendy.

Chelsea successfully beat Brentford with a score of 1-0 at the Brentford Community Stadium, Saturday (16/10). The only goal for the Blues was scored by Ben Chilwell in the 45th minute.

Victory over Brentford secured Chelsea’s position at the top of the standings. With 19 points, Thomas Tuchel’s team is one point ahead of Liverpool in second place.

Tuchel admits his team have suffered a lot with Brentford’s fierce resistance. No wonder he called Mendy a hero because he was able to keep the Chelsea goal a virgin.

“He (Mendy) was very strong and concentrated on building up the attack, it was a good performance. The last 20 minutes it was a game of life and death because they (Brentford) took a lot of risks and put a lot of people in our box,” Tuchel said after the game.

“We couldn’t stop them from shooting so we had a big chance. Mendy was very decisive to end the game with a clean sheet.”

Brentford did give fierce resistance to Chelsea. Recorded seven accurate shots capable of being released into Mendy’s goal.

His brilliant performance against Brentford made Mendy worthy of being recognized as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League at the moment. He has also kept 20 clean sheets in just his first 38 matches in the English top flight.

Only Petr Cech, Pepe Reina, Alisson and Roy Carroll needed fewer games to keep their first 20 clean sheets in the Premier League. A note showing where Mendy’s level is.
