England Strikers’ Dreams is at Stake

By db-admin

DBasia.news – England’s preparations for the 2022 World Cup are again haunted by a number of problems. Currently, The Three Lions are threatened with losing one of their strikers due to a gambling case.

The attacker in question is Ivan Toney. The Brentford-owned player is now under investigation for allegations of gambling at football matches.

Toney is a new weapon on the front lines of the England national team. He was only called up when Gareth Southgate’s team played the last two UEFA Nations League matches, last September.

The call was due to his slick performance at Brentford. Throughout the 2022-2023 season, Toney has scored 8 goals and 3 assists from 14 matches in all competitions.

Toney even began to be linked with a club as big as Manchester United. No wonder many people believe he will be brought in by Southgate to Qatar.

However, Toney’s chances of appearing in the 2022 World Cup are threatened. The FA is known to be investigating his involvement in a gambling case which has been in progress for the past seven months.

Toney allegedly engaged in gambling activities while still working in the lower caste before finally moving to Brentford. However, this allegation has not been proven to date.

Toney did not deny the examination of him. But he believes he is innocent and still has a chance to appear in the 2022 World Cup.

“I learned of a story about me in the national newspapers today. I have assisted the FA by answering their questions and will not be providing any comment until the investigation has reached its conclusion,” Toney tweeted.

“I am a proud Englishman and it was always my childhood dream to play for my country in the World Cup finals.”
