Erik ten Hag and Bruno Fernandes Praise Alejandro Garnacho
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Alejandro Garnacho did not waste the opportunity to show off, and that’s what he did when he led Manchester United to a 1-0 win at Real Sociedad.
The Argentina international player scored the Red Devils’ only goal in the 17th minute, and he was also praised by manager Erik ten Hag and team-mate Bruno Fernandes.
Speaking to BT Sport after the game, Ten Hag said of Garnacho: “I’m thrilled with his performance: he’s a threat, he scores goals and defends well. It was a great finish, great attack and a lot of fun.”
On a separate occasion, Fernandes added: “He is good, we expect a lot from him and he is performing well. He didn’t have the best attitude at the start of the season but he is training better and he is starting to get his chance.”
Despite the result in San Sebastian, Ten Hag’s team had to settle for finishing second in Group E as they lost on goal difference to their Spanish rival.
Both teams have both collected 15 points from the 6 matches played, but La Real have a goal difference of 8, while United have just 7.
At 18 years & 125 days, Garnacho became the youngest non-English player to score for Manchester United in European competition, overtaking George Best (18 years & 158 days against Djurgardens IF in 1964).
United must immediately shift their focus to the Premier League, as they will play away to Aston Villa headquarters on Sunday (6/11) the day after tomorrow.
